Swing into Spring with Baseball Season Sign-Ups

Spring is just around the corner, and that means you’re probably already thinking about baseball. Whether you’re still on the younger side or you are in high school and dreaming about your varsity letter, it’s time to start thinking about sign-ups.

Check the Dates for Sign-Ups

Kids who are still going to be playing Little League will want to have their parents check their local leagues to find out when they need to register. Those who are in high school can talk with the coaches to learn when they need to sign up and try out for the team. Make sure you have everything needed to sign up, get parental permission, etc., and sign up as early as possible.

Get Ready for Tryouts

Before the tryouts for JV or varsity, shake out the cobwebs if you haven’t practiced and trained in a while. You want to be sure your body, mind, and skills are as sharp as they can be. See if a few others who are signing up can get together to practice the fundamentals before the tryout. You want to get back into playing shape, but you don’t want to overdo it and injure yourself before tryouts.

Younger players in Little League might not need to try out like they would in high school. However, they could still benefit from practicing those fundamentals. A pick-up game, practicing with parents, etc. will work nicely. Getting into the habit now makes things easier as they continue playing throughout their youth.

Play in the Summer, Too

If you’re in high school, the baseball season is generally over for you by summer. However, you probably don’t want to stop playing quite yet. A fantastic option to keep playing and to continue improving your skills is to sign up for a training camp and summer league.

Playing in a summer league against others who love the sport just as much as you do will provide you with some true competition. Keep in mind that with some of the top teams, there’s a tryout that will be fiercer than anything you faced in high school.

Typically, you can register online in the spring and then start tryouts as soon as they are ready. Some leagues will let you try out more than once, so it’s worth attending several just in case you have a bad day at one of them. Contact Schaumburg Seminoles to learn more!
