Variety Is the Key to Never Getting Bored with Exercise

Why do some people who start exercising and getting into great shape suddenly stop? Sometimes, they might need to take some time off because of an injury. However, many times, it’s because they have become bored with their current exercises. Maybe they have done the same thing so many times that it starts to feel pointless, especially when they stop seeing gains. Regardless, you have to understand that variety is the spice of life even when it comes to exercising.

If your body becomes too accustomed to the workouts you are doing, you will fail to make gains. When you add more variety to the workouts, you will find that it can help you to push past those plateaus, so you can continue getting stronger, faster, and more agile. You need to keep challenging your body, and you need to make sure that you don’t get bored.

Look at your current routine and then start to consider some of the ways that you can change things up one or two days a week. Here are some of the ways you can add more variety.

Yoga

Even though yoga might not be high impact and it might not seem like much exercise for those who are accustomed to running or spending time on the weights, it’s a great option. Yoga helps you learn to better control your breathing, provides you with better control of your body, and helps you to stretch and become more agile.

Hiking

Sometimes, just getting out in the fresh air and going on a long hike is what you need to change up the routine. Of course, you still want to make it challenging. If you are in good shape, you’ll want to make sure you choose difficult hikes and that you move quickly. You might also find that adding some ankle and wrist weights can make it more challenging.

Swimming

Swimming is a fantastic exercise for the entire body. It’s a great cardio workout if you want to lose some weight, and it will help to build your shoulders, forearms, abs, and glutes.

These are just some of the ways that you can change up your routine. Find new and fun things that you enjoy doing and add them into your usual weekly routine. You will find that by adding in some more variety and trying out new things, you can keep exercise fun and interesting. This helps to ensure that you are more likely to keep up with a fitness plan now and throughout the rest of your life.
